The BEST Keto Teriyaki Sauce Recipe
Store bought condiments often contain hidden sugars, and even those that do not often have preseratives or chemicals you probably would rather avoid.
The good news is that homemade condiments, like this flavorful sugar free teriyaki sauce, take minutes to make and are loads healthier for you and your family.
This recipe uses only a handful of ingredients: tamari (or coconut aminos for soy free), water, fresh garlic, fresh ginger, monk fruit sweetener, and a thickener, like tapioca or arrowroot starch.
This recipe sticks to real, whole food ingredients – no xantham gum required!
What You’ll Need
- Tamari (for gluten free) or Coconut Aminos (for soy free and gluten free) *see notes for using soy sauce.
- Sesame Oil
- Monk Fruit Sweetener, Allulose, or favorite non-caloric sweetener
- Garlic (fresh is best, but use ground ginger and garlic powder to save time!)
- Ginger
- Arrowroot Powder or Tapioca Starch (optional – just a little bit thickens this perfectly!)
- Sesame Seeds (optional, use as a garnish)
How to Make Sugar Free Teriyaki Sauce
Step 1: Into a small saucepan, add the tamari (or coconut aminos), water (omit if using coconut aminos), garlic and ginger. Whisk to combine, and heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
Step 2: Add the sweetener, and allow to simmer for about 3 minutes.
Step 3: Add water to the tapioca or arrowroot starch, and mix to combine.
Step 4: Slowly drizzle the thickener into the teriyaki sauce, whisking to keep it from clumping. Once it’s fully mixed in, remove the sauce from heat and allow to cool.

FAQ & Variations
Use Soy Sauce: No gluten intolerance? If regular soy sauce is in your kitchen rotation, use soy sauce in place of the tamari with no other changes to the recipes.
Soy Free Sugar Free Teriyaki Sauce: Use coconut aminos in place of the water and tamari in this recipe (3/4 cup coconut aminos and NO added water). Coconut aminos isn’t as strong as soy sauce or tamari. Add a few pinches of salt to taste.
