The Perfect Asian Flavors, in a Slow Cooker!
This slow cooker recipe embodies the things I look for in dinner recipes! It’s high in protein, packed with flavor, and super simple to put together.
Perfection over a simple bed of rice (or cauliflower rice, for my fellow keto dieters!).
If you’re prioritizing protein in your diet, you’ll agree that having variety is key! This Crockpot Asian Chicken has incredible flavor, and the leftovers are quite possibly even better than it is on the first day.
The honey garlic sauce can be made sugar free, with monk fruit sweetener or a monk fruit honey. Using real honey adds a few carbs per serving!
It can be served in a variety of ways — as lettuce wraps, over cauliflower rice or zucchini noodles, or over your favorite grain (rice, quinoa, or millet are great options for higher carb needs!).
Move over, high-sugar hoisin sauce! Skip the jarred sauces, with suspect ingredients, and whisk together your own wholesome sauce in minutes.
What You’ll Need
- Skinless Chicken Breasts (or boneless chicken thighs. Dark meat is higher in fat and cooks faster, so see notes for modifications.)
- Coconut Aminos (this makes it soy and gluten free. Use soy sauce or tamari, based on dietary needs)
- Monk Fruit Sweetener (honey or maple syrup add a small amount of sugar but can be used for higher carb needs)
- Tomato Paste
- Rice Vinegar (use unseasoned rice wine vinegar, without added sugar and salt)
- Toasted Sesame Oil
- Paleo Sriracha Sauce (check the label for added sugars, if you’re concerned! Use red pepper flakes in a pinch!)
- Fresh Garlic
- Fresh Ginger (save time by using ginger powder!)
- Sea Salt

Can I freeze Asian Chicken?
If you’re prepping ahead for busy days, this easy recipe with a flavorful sauce is pure gold!
There are two ways to make Asian chicken as a freezer meal:
- Add leftovers to an airtight container or freezer bag, and freeze up to 3 months. Allow leftovers to thaw at room temperature, then reheat in a skillet on the stovetop.
- Freeze raw chicken with the sauce in a large freezer bag. When ready to serve, allow the thaw in the refrigerator overnight, and then add to a crockpot to cook the next day.
How to Make Crockpot Asian Chicken in an Instant Pot
Add the chicken and the sauce to an Instant pot, and cook on Manual for 25 minutes. The sauce is thinner when cooked this way, so if necessary, remove the chicken from the Instant pot, and turn the pot on Saute. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5-10 minutes to reduce it to a thicker sauce. Shred the chicken, and then pour the sauce over the chicken to serve.
