The Best Keto Avocado Chocolate Pudding
Meet my new favorite keto snack or dessert. If its base is a fruit, can we also call this a meal? 🙂
Avocados are a great addition to a keto diet. Not only are they chocked full of healthy fats, they also have a lot of fiber, which is sometimes difficult to add into a low carb diet.
- 100 grams of avocado has 1.8 grams of net carbs – while the fruit has 8.5 grams of carbs for the same amount, the fiber lowers the total net carbs.
- Avocados are a great source of folate, vitamin C, potassium and vitamin K
Ripe avocados cream into a wonderful smooth texture, and with the addition of cocoa powder, almond milk, and some keto sweetener, a delicious, magical chocolate pudding is formed.

What You’ll Need
- Avocados (oh yes! Lots of them. You can even use your overripe, starting-to-brown avocados here!).
- Cocoa powder (Spring for the good stuff. You won’t regret it.)
- Almond milk (to thin to desired texture. Be sure to grab unsweetened.).
- ZenSweet Monk Fruit Sweetener (pretty much the only keto sweetener I use — it by far has the most natural flavor. Order it directly from their site for the best price & use coupon code BLISSFULLYLOWCARB for 20% off your first order!).
- Vanilla
- Sea Salt (just a pinch!)
That’s it! Bookmark this recipe or SAVE it on Pinterest so the next time you have an abundance of avocados, you’re sure to remember to try it! The rest of the ingredients are ones you most likely will always have on hand.
How to Make Sugar Free Pudding
Step 1: Add peeled avocados to a food processor bowl, along with powdered monk fruit sweetener, cocoa powder, vanilla, salt, and almond milk.
Step 2: Process the ingredients until very smooth. If necessary, stop the processor and scape the sides down and continue to process until there is no remaining avocado chunks.
FAQ & Variations
Can I make Keto Avocado Chocolate Pudding with heavy cream?
Yes, go ahead and substitute the almond milk for heavy whipping cream, if that’s what you have on hand and prefer. However, this pudding is already very rich and thick, so the almond milk keeps it a little lighter. I prefer to whip the cream and add a dollop on top.
Is this Keto Avocado Chocolate Pudding vegan?
Yes, this recipe is vegan as written. Be sure to use a coconut whipped topping if choosing to add cream to the top.
Can I use coconut milk in Keto Avocado Chocolate Pudding?
I don’t recommend using coconut milk in place of the almond milk for 2 reasons. First, the pudding is rich enough without adding the additional richness of coconut milk. In addition, coconut milk sours a lot faster than almond milk, meaning this pudding will need to be eaten very quickly so it doesn’t go bad.
Variations on Chocolate Avocado Pudding:
- Add almond extract to give this a delicious nutty flavor.
- Use a combination of cold brew coffee and heavy cream in place of the almond milk (half and half) to make this a mocha avocado pudding.
- Use any non dairy milk in place of the almond milk. Soy milk, cashew milk, and coconut milk beverage will not significantly change the net carb count in this healthy dessert.
Topping Ideas for this Easy Keto Pudding
- Berries are a great addition to this pudding — raspberries, sliced strawberries, blackberries or blueberries are delicious.
- A spoonful of almond butter or sunflower seed butter
- Unsweetened coconut flakes or coconut chips
- Shaved unsweetened chocolate or keto chocolate bars
- A crumbled Keto Coconut Macaroon
- Whipped cream or coconut whipped cream (made with powdered ZenSweet or unsweetened).

Keto Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 avocados large (or 4 medium avocados)
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup monk fruit sweetener or sweetener of choice (up to 2/3 cup for a sweeter pudding)
- 1/2 cup almond milk or more, to thin to preferred thickness
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Cut the avocados, and scrape the flesh into a food processor bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients, and process until very smooth. With some food processors, you'll need to stop and scrape the sides down until all the avocados have been processed into a creamy texture.
- Add additional sweetener or almond milk, to taste. The amount of sweetener called for makes a very lightly sweetened pudding, so feel free to add an additional 2-4 tablespoons.
- Store in airtight containers for up to 3 days refrigerated.

It is! I adore it as well.

I used a standup mixer, started on medium speed, then switched to high speed, it came out a little lumpy but still tasted good!! I used non dairy milk and a sweetener as my husband is a diabetic, any hints as to how to get the lumps out?
Michelle Miller says
Yes, if you use really ripe avocados this works in a stand mixer. And just plan on it taking longer than it would in a processor. If you’re making this in a stand mixer, use avocados that are almost overripe — if you have some that you forgot about and they are starting to brown inside, those are prime chocolate pudding avocados! So glad your husband enjoys this!
Orsi says
So the macros are per serving or for the whole recipes?
Sarah says
Hi there, just wondering what the serving size would be to match nutritional info.
Thank you!
Rachel says
My significant other and I really dislike avocados. He and I were unable to taste hardly any avocado with this recipe. There is a slight after taste of avocado that may be masked with toppings. We got squishy brown avocados and found this to blend well in our food processor. Blend a little longer than you think is necessary. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

So glad to hear that you love this recipe! It’s so good. I make it when I have avos going bad also 🙂
Gie says
Delicious! Made mine with flax seed melk and the whole family loved it. (I’m the only non dairy keto.) Rich and creamy without the rubbery texture that usually accompanies pudding.
Angel says
It turned out really bitter and was a flop. I was really excited about it too. :/ it looks fantastic but the taste was ew.
Michelle Miller says
What type of sweetener did you use? That will really make a difference in this recipe! If you’re using a sweetener that’s not great, it won’t turn out. We adore this pudding and make it all the time.
Patty says
Delicious chocolate pudding! So rich, creamy and full of chocolate flavor! Can’t even tell it’s made with avocados!

I also LOVE this recipe! Thanks for letting me know you love it.
Sheila says
Hi, how many oz is each serving size? I know you said it makes 6 servings but those of us on keto need to know these details for net carb counting purposes. Thank you 🙏🏼
Michelle Miller says
Good question! I bought avocados and am going to make this later on today — I will get back to you! I imagine it will depend on the size of your avocados, so I will weigh out my avocados and update the recipe.
Barbara says
Wow! Really rich and delicious! I used monk fruit liquid and just a few drops of stevia. Thank you.
